VUE File Extension

Have a problem opening a .VUE file? We collect information about file formats and can explain what VUE files are. Additionally we recommend software suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .VUE file type?

The VUE file extension is associated with the Autodesk 3ds Max (formerly 3D Studio Max) software application designed for creation of high-quality 3D content. The suffix 'VUE' originated from the French world for 'view' since a .vue file defines a camera view.

A .vue file represents a text document that lists transformations of the camera and the objects in the scene on a frame-by-frame basis. Each frame is described by a set of commands starting with a 'frame' command to define the number of the frame and ending with a 'viewport' command to define the view for rendering.

The .vue file extension can be also assigned to settings files used for the Microsoft Visual FoxPro dynamic programming language. These .vue files contain FoxPro environment information such as setting parameters and configuration details used in the process of creation of new applications.

Alternatively, the .vue file extension can be added to scene files created in the E-on Vue 3D software application designed for creation of realistic three-dimensional environments. This .vue file contains a 3-D scene including people, animals, and other objects. VUE scenes may be either static or animated.
