CSH File Extension

Have a problem opening a .CSH file? We collect information about file formats and can explain what CSH files are. Additionally we recommend software suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .CSH file type?

The .csh extension primarily associates with the Adobe Photoshop Custom Shape (CSH) file format and the respective file type. A powerful commercial image manipulation application and a de facto industry standard for professional creative arts, Adobe Photoshop (MS Windows/Mac OS X) by Adobe Systems encourages extensive customization and provides ample room for creativity. Besides other features, Adobe Photoshop allows to create and use custom vector shapes of any complexity. This is done via CSH files.

With Adobe Photoshop, a .csh file is a custom shape preset that can be loaded into Photoshop and used with the Shape tool. Custom shape presets (.csh) are normally located in the "..\Presets\Custom Shapes" subfolder of the Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) installation directory. CSH shape presets are managed with the Preset Manager tool.

Apart from that, the .csh filename suffix is conventionally used to denote C Shell script files in those operating systems that can use C Shell (csh) or TENEX C Shell (tcsh), e.g. Unix/Linux, Mac OS, etc. C Shell and its derivatives are command line interpreters, and a .csh file is a text-based C Shell program (script). CSH scripts use a syntax that is similar to the C programming language (hence the name). CSH scripts are generally incompatible with other shells like sh or BASH.
