JPG-LARGE File Extension

Have a problem opening a .JPG-LARGE file? We collect information about file formats and can explain what JPG-LARGE files are. Additionally we recommend software suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .JPG-LARGE file type?

The .jpg-large extension is one of the rare file extensions created by bugs in computer programs.

There is a known and documented bug in Google Chromium/Chrome web browser. This bug causes the .jpg-large file extension to be automatically assigned to some JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) image files downloaded from Twitter, a social networking service, with the use of Google Chrome/Chromium.

The normal .jpg extension is replaced with the .jpg-large extension as a result of the special URL format used by Twitter being processed, or 'sanitized' by the bug-containing routine of Google Chrome. Simply put, a colon in the ':large' URL suffix used by Twitter to indicate full-scale images is replaced with a dash.

Image files with the .jpg-large extension are the same as .jpg files, so general advice would be to have the affected files renamed to .jpg, although many popular image viewers are able to process .jpg-large images directly.

If not sure, change the .jpg-large extension to .jpg.
