ACV File Extension

Have a problem opening a .ACV file? We collect information about file formats and can explain what ACV files are. Additionally we recommend software suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .ACV file type?

The .acv filename extension denotes the Adobe Photoshop Curves Preset (.acv) file type and format used in Adobe Photoshop, a major graphics editor and digital photography tool from Adobe Systems. In Adobe Photoshop, curves are a powerful tool used by digital artists in addition to the Levels tool to shift color balance, enhance visual perception, create lighting effects, and so on.

The .acv file is an Adobe Photoshop curves preset. It is a small binary file in which settings from the Curves Adjustment panel are stored in Adobe's proprietary format. Later, saved curves presets (.acv) can be loaded and applied to the same or different image using the "Load Curves Preset..." command in the Curves Adjustment panel.

By default, user-defined curves presets (.acv) are saved into the "%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop...\Presets\Curves" directory (Microsoft Windows) and can be shared between Windows and Mac OS X. There are many sites and forums on which artists that use Adobe Photoshop share their custom curves settings (.acv) made for different purposes.
